At the 2023 Frontiers in Education Conference, I was presented with the Mac Van Valkenburg Early Career Teaching Award. I am honored to be recognized "for innovative contributions to undergraduate education, laboratory curriculum, and inclusive pedagogy methods."
This award recognizes members of the IEEE Education Society who have made outstanding contributions to teaching unusually early in their professional careers. It is named after Mac Van Valkenburg who was a professor of Electrical Engineering and the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am proud to be one of the faculty carrying on his legacy of excellence in engineering education.
I am thankful for my mentors, colleagues, family, and friends who helped me throughout my career, especially the ones who nominated me for this award. I also appreciate the work that the IEEE Education Society does to promote engineering education and recognize the work of members around the world.
I submitted the following video as an acceptance speech.
